So why choose N:DAS?

From the very start of her casting career, Jo was interested in developing the new talent in Leeds. For various reasons a lot of local talent was being overlooked and Jo felt there must be a way to prevent this.

Whilst working on 'The Bill' she worked with a variety of directors with the same attitude who wanted to 'give new faces a chance' and she was able to use both new and well known actors in her casting. Jo found this mixing of talent an exciting way to work and reached a point where she wanted to return to The North full time and try to make a difference locally.

Initially she developed a series of workshops and 1-2-1 consultations offering high quality training at affordable prices. Outside of London and Manchester, actors didn't have anywhere to go for training or advice and often felt isolated. Her attitude was informal and fun with the focus on getting the most from the actor and having them leave her inspired and motivated.

As actors returned for more sessions Jo started mentoring actors and the genesis for N:DAS was born.

Northern:Drama Acting School began life in 2010 with 20 students and currently has over 100 with a waiting list for next years Summer intake.

It's important to know that Jo likes working with actors and helping them acheive their goals whether that be acting for fun or as a serious career path. She herself enjoys the classes and is present at everyone. To ensure quality training was being delivered she completed a teaching diploma in 2012.

Each class is maintained to challenge and develop the students to optimum efficiencey and each student has their own specific training plan to ensure progression is monitored.

Jo maintains a casting career alongside her development of N:DAS and whilst she will consider students for auditions in her projects and recommend them to her Casting Director contacts for theirs, she does not act as an agent or take commission.
